Cointreau Caviar (Londonist)

Cointreau Caviar
by Chris Osburn, Food & Drink Editor
Londonist
April 29, 2008

If a few months from now you’re sipping a cocktail at one of London’s trendier cocktail bars and you notice a few squishy gold flecked bubbly pearls floating around in your glass, don’t be alarmed; that’s just Cointreau Caviar. Yes, Londonist has seen (and sipped) the future of booze, and it’s ridiculously over the top, rather tasty and derived from a scientific molecular mixology process.

Playing tourist on the Thames (PhotoBox)

Playing tourist on the Thames

April 28, 2008

The first warm sunny afternoon of the season (along with a boring workload staring me down!) could only mean one thing: grab my camera and head out for a nice long walk in the sunshine. Making my way to one of my favourite strolling areas, St Paul’s Cathedral to Tate Modern via the Millennium Bridge, I soon realized that I wasn’t the only one playing hooky.

Londonist: Mr Jerk VERSUS Jerk City

Here's the another post in the Londonist series called VERSUS. The idea is to "take like for like and decide which one is more likeable."

Mr Jerk VERSUS Jerk City
by Chris Osburn - Food & Drink Editor
Londonist
January 30, 2008

You don’t need Londonist to tell you how many jerks are on Wardour Street. However, you might require a bit of help deciding which one’s got the best sauce. No, this review isn’t about the peeps sidling between Oxford Street and Shaftesbury Avenue but about Mr Jerk and his rival Jerk City: two competing Caribbean restaurants on the same side of the same block of this busy Soho passage with hardly a stride between them.

From photos of an emphatic Bush addressing US soldiers about “rising tensions with North Korea and the possibility of military action against Iraq” in January 2003… to a birds eye shot of antiwar protesters congregating in London a little more than a month later… to a January 2005 photo of an Iraqi police officer scanning a donkey with a handheld metal detector (along the lines of those devises used at airport security checks), Bearing Witness examines every aspect of this conflict with unflinching focus.

Graffiti Coming to Tate Modern

I suppose it was only a matter of time. Is this the beginning of the end, a new beginning or the end full stop?

Street art to adorn Tate's walls

Londonist: London Restaurant Week Preview

Preview: London Restaurant Week
by Chris Osburn
Londonist
April 1, 2008

"Eat with the elite." That’s what the folks behind the upcoming London Restaurant Week want us to do from the 14th of April through the 27th (which would actually make it more like London Restaurant Weeks but whatever). Snooty catch phrases and poor calendar reading skills aside, London Restaurant Week sounds like a brilliant opportunity to dine at many of London’s most celebrated eateries for cheap ... Bon appetite, scumbags.
