... looking for something slightly fresher then Kastner & Ovens is a fairly decent bet. They serve up two hot dishes a day (one meat and one vegetarian) alongside an array of pastries, tarts and salads. And, of course, lots and lots of cake. K&O has lots of things to recommend it for the occasional visitor. Everything is cooked fresh, the food’s of a good quality and there’s a decent range of sweet options.

How Women Are shows that women aren't what you think (sometimes they are men, as in Camrass's films of transvestites). The three women subvert traditionally feminine practices such as watercolour, sewing, and pottery. Why choose these delicate methods? Because with the feather we can tickle the feet of the 1000 pound gorilla in the room (sexism) and perhaps get him to f*ck off.

It's entitled 'Erotic Terrors of the Deep' but to be honest, the show isn't really that erotic, I was just being provocative to get people in, because, as we all know, sex sells. That said, the show documents the extremely sexy denizens of the deep that live out their naughty lives deep under the sea, away from human eyes. So like I say, you're not likely to find this show that titillating. But if you're into cute, very slightly suggestive animals with dark undertones and gaudy colours than this is the show for you. Probably best to bring a tissue ...

Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has admitted she would not feel safe walking around London after dark.

Tate Modern, How Deep is Salcedo's Shibboleth?

It's amazing how even the (seemingly) simplest of things can elicit a sense of wonder. Such is the case with Doris Salcedo's Shibboleth (ie the big crack in the floor at Tate Modern). As can be viewed in this post's accompanying video, folks can't get enough of this "subterranean chasm that stretches the length" of Tate Modern's Turbine Hall.

Coffee, Cake and Kink ... feels more like the sort of place to visit before or after a Sarah McLachlan concert than an orgy. The probability of Jay Wiseman’s “Erotic Bondage Handbook” being on your table or a display of the “world’s best soft toys for adults” standing in your line of vision seems almost beside the point. Coffee, Cake and Kink is a tasteful little spot for a tasty little lunch.

Banksy wall could fetch £200,000
A businessman is hoping to make over £200,000 by selling a wall which was painted on by graffiti artist Banksy.

The Tube on YouTube: Why?

Here's a link to a post from Going Underground - "the London Underground blog" - about Tube Lines' new YouTube channel. I've also included the actual YouTube clip, which seems pretty inocuous but uh, shouldn't they focus more attention on just making sure the damn trains run on time? Maybe they had to make the video for investors or some government review board and thought "since we have it, why not share it with the public?" Whatever the case, here's all you never wanted to know about "future of travel on the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly Lines." Enjoy.

Alan Yau Sells Yauatcha and Hakkasan

The Financial Times has reported that Wagamama founder Alan Yau has sold Hakkasan and Yauatcha, his two Michelin-starred Chinese restaurants, to the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority for £30 million! According to the FT, Yau will retain a minority stake in the two restaurants, which seem to take turns representing London among the world’s most highly ranked restaurants.

The safety of the 2012 Olympics could be jeopardised if the government fails to make clear how transport security will be funded, a peer has said.
